Rentrak Corporation is an information management company with 20 years of experience in the home entertainment industry. Our advanced technology allows industry decision-makers to gather, interpret and use their performance and consumption data to create results.
Founded
In 1977, the video distribution company National Video was founded and four years later began selling video store franchises. By 1985, the company’s efforts to develop a revenue sharing distribution system began to pay off and National Video changed its name to Rentrak to reflect the new focus on it’s Pay-Per-Transaction (PPT)™ distribution and revenue sharing programs. By 1988 Rentrak went public as they successfully gained acceptance from film studios and other video program suppliers, retailers and industry analysts.
